Monogamy : Marriage 


1. Monogamy

Institutionally, it is permitted to have only one spouse at a time. Modern societies practice this type of marriage . Some tribal groups in India such as Khasis, Kadar, Santhals etc. practice monogamous marriage .The Hindu Marriage Act 1955 provides monogamy as the form of marriage.

2. Serial Monogamy

A type of monogamy where re-marriage is permitted after the original marriage has been terminated by death or divorce.

3.Strict monogamy

A type of monogamy where re-marriage is not permitted even after the original marriage has been terminated by death  or divorce.
