I.Endogamy 


Endogamy mean marriage in same caste or religion or race

Reason for Endogamy is for maintaining unity among same group


 II. Exogamy 

Exogamy means avoiding marriage in certain group of people


Types of exogamy 

1. Sagotra Exogamy


Brahmins will not marry in same gotta

Eg : Bharadwaj is gotra among brahmins. 

Bharadvaj boy will not marry Bharadvaj Girl

Prohibition of marriage in same gotra called as Sagotra marriage


2. Sapinda Exogamy

Brothers children will not marry, because all brothers and their children belong to same Pinda or blood

Sisters children will not marry, because all sisters and children belong to same Pinda or blood

3  Village Exogamy 

In North India boy will not select girl from same village for marriage
