Qts2 Write about Mahmud Ghaznavi

  1.   Mahmud Ghaznavi came to the throne of Ghazni in 997 AD. 
  2. Mahmud Ghaznavi started his raids in India in 1001 by attacking and killing Jaipala, the king of Punjab in the First Battle of Waihind.
  3.  In the Second Battle of Waihind (1008 )Mahmud Ghaznavi  defeated Anandpala (Hindu shahi ruler of Punjab).
  4.   Mahmud Ghaznavi objective was to plunder the riches of temples and palaces and was not interested in expanding his empire to India.
  5.  Mahmud Ghaznavi led 17 expeditions between 1001 and 1027. 
  6. Mahmud Ghaznavi  plundered Thaneshwar, Mathura, Kannauj and Somnath. 
  7. The plunder of Somnath temple (dedicated to Shiva) in 1025, situated on the sea coast of Kathiawar, was famous.
  8.  Firdausi (Persian poet, known as Homer of the east) who wrote Shahnama;
  9.  Alberuni (Scholar from Central Asia) who wrote Tahqiq- I-Hind
  10.  Utbi (court historian), who wrote Kitab-ud-yamni.


Qts3 Write about Mohammad Ghori

  1.   Mohammad Ghori was also a ruler in Afghanistan. 
  2.  Mohammad Ghori  was interested in conquering northern India and adding it to his kingdom.
  3. Prithviraj Chauhan, who was the king of Delhi at that time,  defeated  Mohammad Ghori in the First Battle of Tarain in 1191.
  4.   Mohammad Ghori defeated Prithviraj in the Second Battle of Tarain in 1192. 
  5.  Mohammad Ghori also defeated Jaichandra (Gahadval Rajput, ruler of Kannauj) in Battle of Chhandwar in 1194. 
  6. Captured Delhi and Ajmer and thus laid the foundation of Muslim Rule in India.
