HUMAN BLOOD
-It is fluid connective tissue.
-7% of total body weight is blood
-There is an average of 5-6 liters of blood in human body.
-pH of blood is 7.4
Composition of Blood
1. Plasma : 60% of blood is plasma which is the liquid's part of bloodens 90% part is water 7% proteins, 0.9% salt and 0.1 5 is glucose.
Its function included transportation of digested food, hormone, excretory product etc from one part of the body to other.
2. Blood Corpuscles: This comprises the remains 40% part of the blood. This is divided into three parts
(i) RBSs- Red Blood Corpuscles
(ii) WBCs - White blood corpuscles and
(iii) Blood platelets
(i) RBCs : Bio concave in mammal. No nucleus is present except in camel and lama, Lifespan 20 days to 120 days. spleen is called graveyard of RBCs because its destruction takes place in liver and spleen. Haem is iron containing compound so blood is red coloured
(ii) WBCs: It is also Known as leucocytes. It has amoeba like structure Life span is form 1 to 2 days Nucleus is present in the WBC to protect the body from the disease is tits main function, Ratio of RBCs and WBCs is 600:1
(iii) Blood platelets: It is Known as Thrombocytes, Its life span is from 3 to 5 days it dies in the spleen while its formation takes place in bone marrow, To help in clotting of blood is its main function.
