 Causes fort he Failue of the revolt of 1857

-Different sections of society such as moneylyenders, Merchants and Modern educated idians, were actully against the Revolt. The Lack of Interst shown by the intellectulas in the movement was  seroius set back.

-south Indain ramined calm.

 -The lack of resources both n men and money poved very diastrous tot he freedom fighters. The telegrhaphic nework and postal sysytem helped the British in communications, The railways could transport the soldiers quickly.

-A great part of the English army including the sikh, Rajputh and the Gurkha battlaions remained faitfull to the british Government.

-The British troops were led by good Generlas. But the Indain Generals were no macth for them, The brtish has matery over the seas and so they could get men and materials from england ito India.

-There was no grat war or world war like situation in the world against Engalnd This made, Britishers calm and relaxed who made eficient  and effective policy to suppress the revolt.


Result of the Revolt of  1857

-The revolt of 1857 put an end to the rule of English east Inda company,

-Queen victoria's proclamation was issued on Novmber 1, 1858

-The Board of control and the court of Directions were abolished and the court of directions were abolished and the office of  the secreataty of the state for Indai and Indain council was created, The Governer General of Inda now came to be called as viceroy of india.

-The Indain army was thoruoghy reorganised.

-Complter religious freedom was guarnted to the Indian people.


Indigo Revolt (1859 - 60)

-The Peasants were forced to grow indigo in thier lands Unwillingly by hte European factory owners.The anger exploded in Govinfdapur village of Nadia district (Bengal) under digamber Biswas and Vishnu biswas.

-Others who played important role were Harish chandra Mukherjee (editor of hte News paper Huindu pareiot) Dinabadhu Mitra (writer of play Neel Darpan) and Mivchaleeee Madhusudhan Datta (eminent Bengali poet- cum- plya writers whio tranlsted neel Darpan i to English)

-The Government appionted an Indigo commission in 1860 and removed some of the abuse of Indigo cultivation.
